leaving an apartment dirty doesn't count as normal wear and tear, at least where I'm from.

did you not understand the sarcasm from the 'You didn’t actually pay someone $70 to vacuum the room, take out the trash and clean the bathroom, did you?' ... Gabe didn't leave the room a mess. Duh.

Vacuuming and taking out the trash is considered normal wear at tear. The only items he could charge for would be holes in the wall (beyond a reasonable amount) and other damage. There's nothing to charge for there. Gary's such an idiot.

Also, it isn't an apartment... it's a room.

My husband doesn't give me enough allowance if I could be getting 70 bucks for the things I do on a daily basis! DAMN!

Gabe please take Judge Judy! There's a very good chance I'll get to see the case and that would just make my year. Sorry your misfortune is my endless entertainment. ;-)

I smell a great movie in the making. Would make for an amazing Lifetime movie if Gabe was a woman.

I'm with tamra9; I log in almost every day to see what Gary has up his sleeve (or in his flask). Gary reminds me of my dad, also named Gary, except that your Gary has a house from which to rent rooms and bother tenants, while my own Gary lives in a tiny trailer and bothers everyone around him. Ahhh, memories. . .

I had a similar, yet less hilarious experience two years ago in Brooklyn, for 13 MONTHS ( too broke to move earlier). Fortunately for me, she gave me my deposit back promptly. Fortunately for all ya'll she provided TONS of schizophrenic material:

Keep up the good fight Gabe! If you make it to Joe Brown or Judge Judy I'll totally watch it.

Awesome! My former landlord must be friends with Gary. We got the same kind of fabricated laundry list, including trying to claim we were late on our rent.

We offered to provide copies of bank statements, showing when items had cleared. He simply said, "That doesn't prove anything."

    And our own saga begins!!

O Gary, Gary, Gary. I wish I could fix you up with our former tenant Ellen, she of the ranting, 10-minute long voice mails, and the screaming tantrums alone in her apartment, and the pointless $800 lawsuit for disturbing her with a necessary paint job on the house, and the indecent exposures aimed at seducing my partner, and the weeping fit in front of the mediator where she admits that she harasses us because "you have each other and I have nobody.... (sob, sob)." What a pair you would make. Borderline personality disorder people really ought to have their own dating service.
